HODR is a blind god in Norse mythology, primarily known for his tragic role in the death of Baldur, the beloved son of Odin and Frigg. His story is one of deception and sorrow, making him one of the more tragic figures in Norse myths. According to the Prose Edda, written by Snorri Sturluson, Baldur was plagued by dreams of his own death. His mother, Frigg, sought to protect him by making every object in the world swear an oath never to harm him.

However, she overlooked mistletoe, believing it too insignificant to pose a threat. Loki, the mischievous trickster god, took advantage of this oversight. He fashioned a spear (or, in some versions, an arrow) from mistletoe and approached Hodr, who was standing aside while the other gods playfully threw weapons at Baldur, watching them bounce off harmlessly. Since Hodr was blind, Loki offered to guide his hand so that he too could join in the game. Unknowingly, Hodr launched the mistletoe projectile at Baldur, fatally striking him.
